Adventures with Marcela <3

I fell way behind on my writing. This is an update from August 23rd-30th, 2015

So much has happened in the past month that I feel like it’s been two years.  It’s crazy how much you experience when you travel, mostly everything for the first time. I skipped my way to Colombia through Panama (more to come), and Cartegena is pretty dreamy.

I was lucky to spend 1.5 weeks with one of my really good friends, Marcela, and her amazing family. We had sushi nights in San Jose, a week in a resort with her family in Guanacaste, relaxing times in Palmaras and her cabin near La Fortuna and a trip to Volcano Rincon. It was amazing to meet all of her family and friends. I love seeing countries from people who live there. Her mom, dad, sister, brother, aunty, and two grandmas were freaking amazing so so kind.

The last note I jotted was for Volcano Rincon- the coolest volcano I’ve seen in Costa Rica (or ever). Bubbling pools of mud and water, boiling at upwards of 275*C. The sulfur smell was so bad that I actually gagged a couple of times. Hiking with my friend, a geologist who knows a lot about the volcano, was the best part. The main volcano was closed off because of volcanic activity, so I’ll have to go back.

Pura vida :)
