Cassia is an interdisciplinary geologist and social scientist, or a 'social earth scientist'. She is currently dedicated to public service, working as a policy analyst for the Government of Canada. She is a doctoral candidate (University of Exeter), focusing on the intersections of small-scale mining, innovation, and sustainability, using qualitative research methodologies. She is curious about the intersections of humanity and geology, as well as sustainability framed by social and ecological justice. She has over a decade of multi-faceted experience in mining and mineral exploration, spanning various geographies and commodities. She is an accredited geologist (P.Geo) holding a Bachelor of Science (High Hons) (University of Saskatchewan), and a Master’s of Earth and Environmental Science (University of Waterloo), with a speciality in Quaternary Geology. Cassia was born and raised in Treaties 4 and 6 in Saskatchewan and is based in Victoria, British Columbia. Cassia is a lover of nature, spending her spare time biking, surfing, skiing, running, and taking it all in through writing and photography.
